THE
ESTIMATES FOR
1900
The REVENUE for 1900 is estimated at $3,325,479.00
as compared with the revised estimate for 1899 of $3,375,414
The difference of $47,935 between the revised estimate for
the current year and the estimate for 1900 is due to the
fact that while the large land sales of the present year will
bring in a revenue of almost 500,000 dollars, the estimated
land sales for 1900 represent only 250,000.
It will be observed that assessed taxes are increased
by $33,000. The large number of new buildings and the enhanced value of house property account for this increase.
The increase in the amount derived from arms licences
is due to the introduction of a new law increasing the fees
for licences to deal in arms. This law is to be passed with
a view to restrict the number of such dealers to those of
good standing.
